Two of Aotearoa's most iconic bands, The Black Seeds and Kora, join forces for a co-headlining tour across Australia this April. With a longstanding reputation as two of New Zealand's finest live acts, The Black Seeds and Kora have both enjoyed enduring careers and left a lasting legacy that spans generations.
Emerging in the early '90s when four talented brothers from Whakatane burst onto the scene, Kora blend elements of electronic music with reggae, rock, dub, roots and other diverse influences. Known for hit tracks such as “Politician”, "Drop Dead Killer" and "On My Mind", Kora’s unique and eclectic sound has garnered millions of streams on Spotify, and achieved multi-platinum sales status in New Zealand.
Most recently on Australian shores headlining the inaugural Good Love Festival on the Gold Coast in 2022, the band have played prestigious festivals and sold out venues all over the world, from London and Scotland to Japan, the USA, and Singapore.
Their creative journey continues unabated, with a fresh wave of releases over the past few years, including "Gone," "All We Need / Kia Arohatia Tātou," and "Dancing In The Rain". With that new energy and more recordings to come this year, Kora continues to push musical boundaries and deliver exceptional live experiences.
The Black Seeds have also been captivating audiences worldwide since the late 90s with their boundary-crossing reggae fusion. Seamlessly blending funk, soul, dub, and Afrobeat into their reggae foundation, their music conveys a message of hope and positivity, coupled with conscious lyrics addressing a range of personal and societal issues. Iconic songs like "So True," "Dust & Dirt," and "Cool Me Down" have solidified their status as musical mainstays.
Described by Clash Magazine as “one of the best live reggae acts on the planet”, The Black Seeds legendary eight-piece live show infuses raw energy and good vibes wherever they go.
